It is no secret around here how much I love my Senator Chronometer. There has been nothing about the watch or ownership experience to be disappointed with in the slightest for me. If I were forced to make any criticism, it would be that the "standard" OEM strap is rather long (and our good Dr. No warned me of this before it arrived). I wore it on the tightest hole and it was OK, but still a bit looser than I typically like. So I ordered the short strap shortly after receiving it, and... more

PRESS RELEASEBasel Preview 2010 PanoMaticLunar XLLess is more A statement of principle: less is more . Minimalism. Modern design. Function takes on form, and color is transformed into a subtle range of grays. The PanoMaticLunar XL . The quintessential understatement. The PanoMaticLunar XL presents the classic lines and look of the PanoMatic XL models in an understated, eloquent form. . . . last Thursday was covered by Anthony. I believe he arrived early just to take photos of the collection, so the usual mix 'n mingle pics are absent . . . if any readers were there, please chime in to let us know your impressions. The entire collection was on display, and the boss took some terrific pics. Let's start with the ladies models this time. First up, the Four Seasons collection: ===For the rest of Art's post in GO forum, please CLICK HERE For Part II, please CLICK HERE ... more

Glashutte Original Senator Calender Week Revisited (c) Decksurgeon - July 2009 The senator Calendar week was first shown in 2006 as a Basel novelty and I honestly never took much notice of it till recently. Please forgive me for this oversight as I live in Singapore/Asia. If you dare mention a work schedule in terms of weeks - you'd more than often get a blank stare (and probably lose the deal!). It is uncommon outside of Europe to use the calendar week system to describe the a work schedule which is a com... more

As part of the International Art fair in HK,Glashutte Original showcased some of their museum pieces together with some of their latest creations. Live demonstrations from the lovely Maria also provided fascinating insights into the art of mechanical watchmaking. I spent much of the time chatting with the very affable and charming Ulrike that I almost forgot to take any pictures and those that I took were sadly of sub standard quality.Where is Jocke and Sam's friend when you need them? Without furthe... more

During an intriguing evening at the Tourbillon boutique earlier this month. The Tourbillon boutique hosted a Meissen Porcelain event showcasing the painstaking detail and craftsmanship behind the Meissen artwork and the dials of the Glashutte Original watches bestowing them. Meissen artist, Herr Thomas Hannss was present at the event displaying the necessary skill in painting the ceramic dials that go into Glashutte Original watch creations with Meissen dials. Herr Thomas Hannss usually creates the Gla... more

My good friend DeckSurgeon finally got back from his 16 day romp of manufactures in Dresden and was kind enough to take some time today to shoot some fantastic pics of my latest acquisition, the Glashutte Original Senator Perpetual Calendar with Roman Numeral indicators Limited Edition 50 pieces in Platinum. This is my second but only GO, hence the title of this thread. My first was the highly popular PanoMatic Lunar with silver dial in steel. As I’m in a one/complication per piec... more

Alas, we managed to get our hands on a GO Sport Impact Chronograph and decided to put it to the test. GO claim "Optimum protection of the movement as well as the unlimited use in the field of sports has been the focus of the construction and development efforts." The construction of the watch features a movement (Cal 39) that is suspended in the center of the case by four elastomer shock absorbers. The elastomer is developed in conjunction with Fraunhofer technology and the literature states that this takes... more
